Baguio has a special place in my heart.
Known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines, it’s a city with a cool climate, scenic views, and a vibrant culture. But beyond its reputation as a tourist destination, Baguio has shaped me in ways I didn’t expect. Moving here has made me more mindful and productive, and I believe it’s because of the city’s unique characteristics that support a balanced lifestyle.
Here’s how Baguio influenced my life for the better.
🌄 Scenery
One of the first things that struck me when I arrived in Baguio was the stunning scenery. The sight of mountains covered in lush pine trees, the mist that rolls in during the early mornings, and the clear blue skies on sunny days—it all feels incredibly calming. Every time I take a look outside or take a walk through Baguio’s parks, like Burnham or Camp John Hay, I’m reminded of how peaceful life can be in moments like these.
Being surrounded by nature on a daily basis has a powerful effect on mindfulness. It encourages me to slow down, breathe deeply, and just take in the beauty around me. I’ve realized how easy it is to get lost in the hustle of daily life, but living here in Baguio nudges me to pause, to be present. This connection with nature has not only made me more mindful but also more focused and productive when it’s time to dive back into my work. Baguio’s natural surroundings have become my gentle reminder to reset, and for that, I’m grateful.

🌄 Creative Places
Baguio feels like a special place for artists and creative people. Everywhere you go, there’s something that sparks the imagination. You can visit the BenCab Museum, which has a beautiful mix of old and new Filipino art, or wander around Ili-Likha, a fun artist village full of colorful murals and eco-friendly designs. One of the best things about Ili-Likha is the variety of cafés tucked inside, giving you plenty of options for where to eat while soaking in the creative atmosphere.
For me, being in these spaces helps me see things differently. When I’m feeling stuck or out of ideas, I’ll head to one of Baguio’s artsy cafés or studios. The artistic vibe of the city is contagious—it pushes me to create, whether I’m writing, coming up with new ideas, or tackling projects in a fresh way. Being surrounded by so much creativity has helped me break out of old habits and think more innovatively.

🌄 Unique Experiences
Baguio is a city with a lot of culture and traditions. Living here, you can do things you can’t do anywhere else. From joining the Panagbenga Flower Festival to going to traditional markets like the Baguio City Public Market, there’s always something new to see and do. These things have made my life better and helped me appreciate local culture more.
I love how these things push me to try new things. Whether it’s eating something new at a local restaurant or learning about indigenous crafts at a community event, Baguio always has something to teach me. These things make me curious and keep me open-minded, which has helped my work. By seeing things from a different angle, I’ve learned to solve problems more creatively and be more adaptable.
🌄 Peace and Order
Living in a peaceful city really helps a lot when it comes to managing stress. For me, Baguio is so much calmer compared to busier cities. The slower pace of life here is refreshing. The streets are clean and well-kept, and public spaces are organized, which makes everything feel more relaxed. What’s also great is that smoking in public is not allowed here, even in bars and clubs—there are only designated areas for it, which keeps the air fresh and the environment even more pleasant.
This peacefulness has made a big difference in how productive I am. There’s less noise, less traffic, and fewer distractions, so I can focus on my work much better. The quiet surroundings help me think more clearly. Plus, it’s easier to find a balanced life here—I have more time to rest, exercise, and take care of myself, which helps me stay healthier and more focused on my tasks.

🌄 Weather / Climate
Baguio’s cool and mild weather is one of the things I love most about living here. It never gets too hot like in other places, and even when it rains, the misty air feels refreshing. The climate makes everyday life more comfortable, and that really helps me stay focused on what I need to do.
The cool breeze gives me the energy to stay on top of my tasks. Unlike in hotter cities, where the heat just drains you and makes you want to nap all day, Baguio’s weather keeps me awake and active. I don’t have to deal with the tired feeling that comes with sticky, humid air. It’s the perfect working weather, and it really helps me keep my momentum going, letting me get more done without feeling worn out.

🌄 Mindset of the Community
Living in Baguio has been full of surprises, especially when it comes to how people think here. There’s a strong feeling of contentment and positivity in the community. It’s clear that people value well-being and balance, not just focusing on work but also on enjoying life and appreciating the little things.
One of the things I love most about Baguio is that you can wear whatever you want without feeling judged. It gives you the freedom to express who you are, and that’s really important to me. This relaxed, open-minded vibe lets everyone be themselves.
Their laid-back yet driven attitude has also had a big impact on me. I’ve learned that being productive doesn’t always mean working fast or pushing myself too hard. Instead, it’s about working with purpose and intention. This mindset has helped me slow down when I need to, be more present in what I’m doing, and realize that quality matters more than speed. Being around people who value balance has reminded me to do the same, making my approach to life and work much more sustainable and mindful.
It Has Been a Transformative Journey
Since I moved to Baguio in 2019, my life has changed in so many meaningful ways. The calm surroundings help me stay centered, the creative spaces spark new ideas, and the unique experiences broaden my perspective. With its peaceful vibe, great weather for working, and a community that values balance and well-being, I’ve learned to be more thoughtful in how I approach life and work.
Productivity, I’ve realized, isn’t just about checking things off a to-do list. It’s about working in a way that feels satisfying and sustainable. And Baguio, with its beauty and charm, has been the perfect place to cultivate that kind of mindful productivity.
I’m grateful for the experiences and lessons I’ve gained in this beautiful city. It’s more than just a place to live; it’s a sanctuary where I’ve found peace, purpose, and a renewed sense of self. Baguio has truly shaped me into the person I am today, and I’m excited to see what the future holds for me in this amazing city.
