Part of the reason my website is called Snippets of Wonders is because I truly believe there’s always a way to live life differently, to grow, learn, and see the world with fresh eyes.
That possibility starts with one simple act: wondering.
Wondering can come from anything, the stories we encounter in movies, songs, anime, books, or K-dramas. It’s noticing, questioning, and being curious about life, human behavior, and the world around us. Every experience, no matter how small, can spark a moment of reflection, a shift in perspective, or a new insight into how we live intentionally.
My Personal Journey into Stories
I discovered my love for reading at the age of 9, when I first opened Charlotte’s Web. The magic of words and the way a story could transport me to another world fascinated me.
My interest in anime began even earlier, at the age of 8. Back then, we called them cartoons, but they were anything but ordinary. Classics like The Dog of Flanders, A Little Princess Sara, Trapp Family Story, Nobody’s Boy Remi, and The Story of Pollyanna made my afternoons magical and joyful. These stories were filled with emotion, resilience, and lessons about kindness and courage, all of which left a lasting impression on me.
Later, my interest in K-dramas began with Full House, a series that opened my eyes to storytelling through emotion, culture, and relationships. Music has been a companion since I was 6, with the first song I memorized being Rain by Donna Cruz.
And movies? My earliest inspirations came from Disney fairy tales, whose stories of wonder, courage, and imagination left lasting impressions.
All these media, books, anime, songs, and movies, continue to shape my mindset and influence how I see the world. They teach empathy, resilience, joy, and reflection. Over the years, I realized I wanted to share my reflections, so that through the stories I love, my audience can also pause, learn, and grow.
The Joy of Reflection
What draws me to writing reflections is the simple, low-cost joy it brings. I don’t need fancy equipment or expensive experiences; all I need is time, attention, and curiosity. Yet this practice is deeply meaningful, helping me pause, process, and connect with what I’m seeing and feeling.
When I write these reflections, they make me happy. They help me appreciate my life and feel more grateful for the small and big moments alike. On days when I feel low or overwhelmed, I often turn to a K-drama or a book to reset my mood. Even just a few episodes of the right series can lift my spirits.
For example, watching the K-drama Start-Up gave me more than just entertainment. It offered insights into freelance work and building a digital business, helping me understand my own professional journey better. Stories like this show that reflection is not only about enjoyment. It’s about learning, growing, and applying life lessons in meaningful ways.
Reflection is a powerful tool for personal growth. It helps me in my clarity of thoughts. One clear benefit for me is how it shapes mindset and empowers action.
For example, reading The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy helped me shift my thinking and realized that I can achieve what I truly believe in. By reflecting on the ideas in the book, I was able to apply them to my life in my freelancing, digital business, and personal goals and gradually change my mentality toward possibility and purpose.
Life Lessons through Various Media
Stories, whether on screen, in print, or through music, are mirrors. They reveal aspects of life that we might not see clearly in our own experience. A K-drama might show the subtle dynamics of family, friendship, or love. A novel can open a window into resilience, curiosity, or personal growth. Movies and songs can challenge assumptions, spark empathy, or offer fresh perspectives on how we live our lives.
For instance, I reflected on the song Flowers by Miley Cyrus. While some criticized the life experience of the singer, I found that the song resonated deeply with my belief that a woman should be able to care for herself and not wait for someone else to provide happiness or validation. The song’s story teaches important lessons about partnerships, independence, and self-love, all themes that connect closely to intentional living and personal growth.
By pausing to reflect, I uncover life lessons tucked between the lines, lessons that resonate long after the story ends. It’s a practice of noticing, questioning, and learning quietly, intentionally, and meaningfully.
Connection to Intentional Living
All of these reflections, whether from K-dramas, books, anime, movies, or songs, are more than just enjoyable pastimes for me. They are a practice of intentional living. By pausing to notice, analyze, and write about what resonates with me, I slow down and engage with life more deeply.
Reflection encourages me to be mindful of my thoughts, feelings, and choices. It helps me recognize patterns, learn from experiences, and apply insights in meaningful ways. Just as I practice mindfulness in my daily routines, travel, or work, reflecting on stories becomes a tool for growth, clarity, and self-awareness.
The process of reflection also grounds me in gratitude and strengthens my emotional resilience. When I write or think about the lessons in a story, I’m not just processing the content, I’m practicing presence, curiosity, and intentionality. It’s a gentle reminder that living with awareness transforms ordinary moments into meaningful ones, and that learning through stories is a way to live more consciously.
