I had been to Ho Chi Minh City in 2015 and fallen in love with Vietnamese cafe culture, the small plastic stools on pavements, the condensed milk dripping slowly into dark strong coffee, the particular unhurried quality of people who take their coffee seriously.

I thought I knew what to expect when I arrived in Da Nang.

Da Nang is different.

The cafes here are not just places to drink coffee. They are destinations because each one designed with a personality, a story, an aesthetic.

It’s more contemplative and it’s the kind of place where you open your laptop and two hours pass without noticing.

I visited Da Nang as a remote worker looking for good wifi, a quiet corner, and the kind of coffee that makes the work feel less like work. I found all of that. I also found salted coffee, which I ordered in almost every cafe I visited and which I am still thinking about now that I am home.

Here are the nine cafes I visited, honestly reviewed the vibe, coffee, remote work suitability, and what made each one worth the visit.

Quick Travel Notes — Da Nang Cafe Culture

→  Salted coffee (cà phê muối) is Da Nang’s signature. It’s a layer of creamy salted foam over Vietnamese coffee. Order it everywhere. It is worth it everywhere.

→  Coffee prices are remarkably consistent across cafes. Set aside a budget around 35,000 to 55,000 VND per drink. The varying factor is the food menu and the overall experience.

→  Most cafes have wifi but speeds vary. Ask before you settle in for a work session.

→  Da Nang cafes tend to fill up late morning and early afternoon. Arrive before 10am for the best quiet working hours.

→  Every single cafe on this list is Instagrammable. Each one has a completely distinct personality. You will not feel like you are visiting the same place twice.

My Cafe Finds

Boulevard Cafe

Location: 77 Trần Quốc Toản, phường, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000, Vietnam

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Vibe:  Spacious, Airy, Comfortable, Homey, Welcoming

I was out hunting for a cafe in the morning and I chanced upon this shop perched on the corner of the street. I loved that I was the first customer of the day so I had the first floor to myself. They allowed me to use my laptop and connect to the laptop. I stayed to enjoy 1 warm coffee, 1 cold milk coffee, and tiramisu cake in a jar while working on a proposal for a prospect.

Even though it’s at the corner of the road and you can hear and see motorbikes pass by, it was not distracting. I’m not really a fan of air-conditioned cafes so I really liked the ambience here.

They also have gelato and bingsu if you’re not into coffee!

HAPE Coffee and Tea

Location: Loseby Phường An Hải Bắc, Quận Sơn Trà, Sơn Trà

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM

Vibe: Fast, Convenient, Fresh, Cozy Spot, On-the-go

This coffee truck is located just right across my hotel in Da Nang. Their opening hour is at 7AM so I’d usually take my coffee here before heading to the nearby beach. They also offer sandwiches and salads.

I did not bring my laptop to work here but I did a video call with my husband and aunt and their Wifi connection is strong enough to handle it. It’s super convenient and their service is speedy.

Cosmo’s Coffee & Tea House

Location: 19 Hoàng Diệu, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Vibe: Aesthetic, Artsy, Pleasant, Vintage, Visually-created

If you want to have a slow time with your coffee in the morning, head this way. I love the interior design, the elements, and this complement with your intimate time with coffee.

Their Wifi connection is also strong so I was able to do some design tasks while having my morning snack.

Kabin Cafe

Location: 10/16 Đ. Phạm Văn Nghị, Thạc Gián, Thanh Khê, Đà Nẵng 550000

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM

Vibe: Rustic, Young, House-style, Feel good

I happened to have coffee several times here because of cafe talks sessions I engaged in. In the early evening, it gets crowded with young students. You’ll see some of them with their laptops doing their college work. The Wifi is strong and the vibe feels like you’re just having snacks at home.

ByC. Cafe and Brunch

Location: 07 Nguyễn Du, Thạch Thang, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 50000

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8:30AM – 3:30 PM

Vibe: Posh, Aesthetic, Feminine, Visually-crafted, Charming

I dined here on a Saturday to have a relaxing and a quiet brunch and then afterwards went to the nearby cathedral. This is a bright brunch café serving both Western-style breakfast and coffee and it has this charming feel. I had pancakes, chicken strips, hot rose latte, and cold lychee tea.

Cong Ca Phe

Location: 98-96 Bạch Đằng, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:00 AM – 11:30 PM

Vibe: Military-vintage communist aesthetic, Distinctive

Cong Ca Phe is my standout of the entire trip. I was fascinated by the military-vintage aesthetic, the communist-era design elements, the green canvas. You can see from the interior that it has its own identity. It’s unlike anything I have visited anywhere. The coffee is excellent and strong!

Wonderlust Coffee & Souvenir

Location: 96 Trần Phú, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 840236

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM – 7:30 PM

Vibe: Fresh, Lots of plants, Bright atmosphere

This place is a mix of a cafe, a shop, and a co-working space. There is an area for study groups or team tasks upstairs. There are also tables for solo customers and couples. Their Wifi is reliable so I was able to complete a blog post along with enjoying a hot latte.

Ge Cafe

Location: 24 Lê Hồng Phong, Phước Ninh, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000,

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 6:00 AM – 3:00 AM

Vibe: Mellow, Industrial, Earthy tones, Spacious, Creative space

This is my second favorite in terms of interior. It’s an industrial yet cozy café that balances raw design with comfort. There’s exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and subtle vintage touches. I spent time journaling here because it’s the kind of place you can just stay in for hours.

There are also plenty of seating options from couches and window seats and semi-outdoor areas so you can also bring your friends here.

Reply 1988

Location: 20 Lê Hồng Phong, Phước Ninh, Hải Châu, Đà Nẵng 550000

Hours: Monday to Sunday, 7:30 AM – 12:00 AM

Vibe: Nostalgia, K-drama, Natural light, Warm, Well-designed

If you have watched the K-drama Reply 1988, this cafe will stop you at the door. It’s a nostalgic, Korean-inspired café and the space blends retro charm with soft lighting, vintage details, and thoughtfully designed corners. It’s both aesthetic and comforting and you will enjoy a cozy moment here.

A Note on Salted Coffee

Cà phê muối (salted coffee) is my favorite in Da Nang. I ordered it in almost every cafe on this list. Salted coffee is not salty in the way that food is salty. In Vietnamese salted coffee, a layer of creamy, lightly salted foam sits over the coffee and you either stir it in or drink through it. For me, I love letting the salt, the bitterness of coffee, and the creaminess of foam come together.

A Final Thought

Da Nang gave me these nine cafes and each one was different. I came to work. I stayed to wonder. The salted coffee helped with both.

If you are planning a trip to Da Nang or if you are already there and looking for a place to open your laptop and let the morning go slowly. I hope this guide sends you somewhere worth sitting in.

Take your time. Order the salted coffee. Let Da Nang do what it does best.
