One of the many opportunities of working in Brunei Darussalam is that it is near to some beautiful places of Sabah and Sarawak, Malaysia. One can easily travel by car from Bandar Seri Begawan to Miri City. If one is adventurous enough, one can go farther and explore the neighboring towns and cities of Sarawak and Sabah. One can visit Bintulu, Sibu, Marudi, Mulu, Labuan, Kuching Kota Kinabalu and many others.

Last weekend, I took advantage of the opportunity to stay in Miri overnight. Most of my acquaintances and friends usually go to Miri to shop. $1 (bnd) is equivalent to about 2.77 Malaysian Ringgit and this exchange rate helps a lot if one really wants to buy plenty of things! Plus, there are many options of clothing, bags, shoes, etc. in Miri than in Brunei Darussalam.

Well, as for me, I planned this weekend in Miri not for shopping, but, for relaxation. For one whole month, I was frantically juggling several tasks: teaching, marking students’ work, auditing my colleagues’ work, and conducting assignments. It was really a hectic month!

I decided to invite my friends to stay overnight at Eastwood Valley Golf and Country Club. My friends were asking how I discovered this really lovely hotel. Thanks to my favorite travel application, Triposo and to where I get really awesome hotel deals!

We stayed in a Longhouse which looks pretty much like wooden cabin. It is suitable for group or family outings  because one room can accommodate 4 adults. It was such a splendid feeling to wake up in the morning in the middle  of a quiet place free from social media frenzy. It was my first time in a looonnngggg time to sleep without checking  my social media sites. I got my detox, yeah!

This place is really worth the price of Rm 191.90. The view is beautiful and the staff are gracious. This place is safe  because there are security guards at the entrance gate. If you plan to bring your car, then, you don’t have to worry  about the parking and security. Guests are allowed access to the swimming pool and steam bath.
